In today's post, we would like to review the technical picture of core holdings in our portfolio.
Ford Motors (F) - current weight 13.94%
Currently, there is no edge in trading Ford. Shares advanced very quickly to new highs in early 2022, and our opinion is that the move is too extended to the upside, and a period of consolidation is warranted. In other words, we view that shares are too expensive here and should not be bought. We would like to see shares build a flag here with a well-defined floor and ceiling, just like the flag that started in November 2021. We would also be ready to buy more if shares re-visit the previous flag.
Disney (DIS) - current weight 7.79%
Morgan Stanley (MS) - current weight 6.93%
MS shares look absolutely primed for a breakout to fresh all-time highs. However, we're at a critical juncture here, as shares either: i) pick up momentum and break out of a quater-long consolidation period or ii) get violently rejected from all-time high and goes back down into the trading range. Moves in the coming days with higher-than-average volumes will confirm which direction it wants to go.
Eli Lilly - current weight 6.84%
LLY shares are trading near the bottom of a channel which has been in place since early last year. Our view is that shares will bounce from here and head towards the top of the range. A fall-out from this channel to the downside would indicate momentum is lost, something is wrong and would warrant careful examination.
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) - current weight 4.53%
Shares of AMD have been under pressure since the start of the new year, but between yesterday and today, the selling pressure has shifted to buying pressure, as shares are looking to form a double-bottom in the 130$ area, also an area in which shares have previously broken out of. We think shares will likely trade within this wedge drawn here, meaning forming lower highs but holding this floor, before figuring out the next direction either side of this wedge.
